Key Lime Margarita with Sea Salt

Happy Friday!   I scored some beautiful key limes the other day.  They make the best margaritas.    You’ll never go back to that bottled mix after you try this.

It’s great in a mason jar because the rim holds lots of salt.  mmm.  Only a couple more days to get 10 percent off a mason jar koozie from Mason-Re with the code SuwanneeRose.  As if mason jars weren’t versatile enough, this turns them into to-go cups, even for hot drinks (no burning hands).  And as you can see, they’re good for cocktails, too.   At the end of the day you can throw the whole thing (jar plus koozie) in the dishwasher.  I love this thing.  Enjoy the weekend!  Cheers!

Key Lime Margarita with Sea Salt

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 1/3 cup fresh key lime juice
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar
  • 2 tablespoons triple sec
  • coarse sea salt
  • sliced key limes
  • ice

Directions:

Spread sea salt on a small plate.  Rub the rim of 2 glasses or jars with a slice of lime.  Dip the rim in the salt.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, key lime juice, agave nectar and triple sec.  Shake it up and strain it into the glasses.  Garnish with a lime slice.
