October In Bloom

Another trip to the Keys.

Instead of our annual October stone crab extravaganza on Big Pine Key, we spent a few days helping with the cleanup. Trucks are finally hauling away the mountains of trash and debris. In the rest of the Keys, things are looking much better, but Big Pine still has a loooong way to go.

But I promise you this: Come next stone crab season, it’s ON.While we were there, we saw a friend’s shark tooth collection. He collected them while diving in the Carolinas. We made it all the way to Key West this time. It was spared the worst of Irma’s wrath. With some exceptions. There should be some good hurricane-themed costumes at this year’s Fantasy Fest, but we got out of there before onslaught of debauchery. We’re still waiting on the first breath of cool-ish air that signifies Florida “fall” has arrived.
Maybe next week.

Wow, I’m amazed how good Key West looks! Bummer to hear about BPK!

The difference between the islands is incredible.
